TREND WATCH: MULES
The shoe that once only found its way on the feet of over 60s or for use in the garden or as a house slipper has, this season, received a fashion forward makeover. Designers everywhere are embracing the open-backed shoe and giving it their own personal revamp.
But these are not just a designer trend; you can’t walk into a high-street store today without seeing some form of mule on display. From New Look to Zara, stores everywhere are jumping on board, making this trend accessible to anyone regardless of whether you’re style is bold or minimal – the variations are endless.
The Mule has long been around and has had different uses and connotations throughout history; from the early 18th century when they were a popular indoor shoe to being associated with prostitutes in the 20th century and being made popular again by the infamous Marilyn Monroe in the 1950s.
Today they are an AW14 must have, residing in the closets of all the hottest bloggers and making their way down our favourite catwalk shows. Here are some of our favourites. Slip into a pair of these this spring and be a step ahead of the rest.
