Summer Style | Ballet, Denim & Leather Sunglasses

As the summer draws to a close it’s time to embrace our favourite styles of the season. From the looks showcased on high fashion catwalks to the bespoke beauties from East London design houses, we summarise the looks that saw us through the summer months in style.

Style meets sport

This season has exhibited an eye-catching range of fashion forward training shoes, proving sportswear isn’t just for the gym. Whether you’re a fan of crisp white classics, quirky retro designs or slick modern styles, the summer has seen a real resurgence of your favourite kicks.

Nike, Adidas and Converse keep things cool and casual with their own distinctive designs. For a delicate twist on the classic trainer, choose ballet-inspired pumps in subtle shades, offering a touch of femininity to otherwise boyish shoes.

Mix and match manicures

We’re big fans of beautifully decorated talons, and this summer’s nail art masterpieces haven’t failed to impress.

A firm favourite this season has been the combination of colours and patterns, hitting the nail on the head when it comes to festival chic. On the catwalk, Kenzo and Antipodium have showcased two-tone neutral patterns, while Desigual nails it with tropical prints in citrus shades. On the street, we’ve noticed a contrast of bright, pastel and metallic polishes, with punchy reds and pinks toned down by subtle lilacs and silvers.

Distressed denim

Rips, frays and fades have all been styled out this season, reminding us that there’s more (or less) to jeans than neat-and-tidy skinnies. Whether you prefer subtle stonewashes and abrasions or full on knee slashes, there’s been a style to suit all in this distressed denim renaissance.

From haute couture to high street retailers, jeans have taken a rebellious turn. And it’s not only the baggier boyfriends that have experienced wear and tear; slim fits, boot cuts and flares can all be found with stylish shredded effects – not to mention shorts and skirts than can also be discovered with a well worn, vintage twist.

Eyewear matters

The most significant accessory you’ll have rocked all summer: sunglasses. This season saw a return to retro classics, with a focus on bigger, bolder, better.

Sunglasses are essential, and not only for sun protection. This season we’ve seen a return to the shapes and styles of the ‘60s and ‘70s, bringing a bohemian edge to any outfit, combined with modern accents that bring the frames bang up to date. Our own collection of unique eyewear, including leather sunglasses and pearlescent rims, offers a range of designs that all make a contemporary yet classic statement.

We’re seeing ballet-inspired style seep through into the mainstream of eyewear, too – stay ahead of the curve with our very own Bolo leather sunglasses in ballet pink.
